I need advise on setting up a Trust for my son. He is 13 and his father passed away in May. I have two small Estate Accounts in which I would like to set up in the form of a Trust. I want to ask you if he would qualify for a Special Needs Trust and the advantages and disadvantages to doing that. The law firm handling the wrongful death suit has advised I place the funds in a local bank in IN (we just move from IN 4 months ago) but the bank says they want close to $700. per year to act as trustee and leave money in their bank. I want to be trustee and have access to the funds incase my son needs the money between now and the time he is an adult; the same as if his father was alive helping him along the way with such things as his first car etc.. I want to speak with you first before hiring a Trust Attorney to see what our best options are.
